Kevy Nova: Songs

Mourning Time

(Kevy Nova)
Kevy Nova
My fiancée had ended our relationship the day before the seventh anniversary of our first date. It reminded me of something that she had said when we had just started dating; "I think if a relationship can last seven years, then it's probably going to last."

I wrote this song a week later. A month later, I decided to move across the country and start my life over.
It’s three pm, everybody’s out, but I’m still in ‘cause it’s mourning time for me.
Wipe the sleep from my eyes, pull open the shade, see the day is gray,
And it’s mourning time for me.

Don’t want to go outside, don’t want to be alive, don’t want to realize,
Don’t want to live a lie, don’t want to even try, don’t want to be…
It’s mourning time for me.
Don’t want to go outside, don’t want to be alive, don’t want to realize,
Don’t want to live a lie, don’t want to even try, don’t want to be…
It’s mourning time for me.

I can’t pretend I have a friend; a friend is all she wants from me.
I can’t pretend I have a friend; a friend is all she wants from me.

Seven years on and seven days, I’ll sing this song all while I gaze.

One day short, so go to bed and rest your head, it’s mourning time.
One day short, so go to town, what have you found? It’s mourning time.
One day short, so go to bed, your love is dead, it’s mourning time.
One day short, so go to town and wear a frown, it’s mourning time.

It’s mourning time. It’s mourning time…For me.
