Kevy Nova: Bio

Described as "If Stevie Ray Vaughan played guitar for Nirvana," Kevy Nova has been playing music for longer than he can remember. It's true. His father, a drummer, dreamed of having a guitar playing son and supplied young Kevy with a plethora of musical toys in the hopes that they would someday play in a band together. According to his Baby Book, on his second birthday he received his “1st set of drums, 3rd guitar & other various toys.” Kevy would often “sit in” at his father’s band practices, watching the guitarists and trying to mimic them with his little red toy guitar. At the age of ten, he started going to his father’s gigs to work the lights. At 13, he was allowed to control the P.A. and finally, at 15, he was asked to join the band. He spent the next three years honing his skills on guitar, bass and drums by gigging weekly in several bar bands until forming his first all original band at the age of 18.

For the most part, Kevy learned music by figuring out songs from his parents’ record collection which consisted mostly of The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Moody Blues, Jefferson Airplane, Led Zeppelin and other bands from his parents’ era. Kevy would later fall in love with 90's alternative rock such as Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Jane’s Addiction, Primus, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alice in Chains and many others. He also has a deep love of and has studied classical music, film scores, funk, soul and blues. His own music is a unique blend of all these various styles.

Now living on the San Francisco Bay Coastside, Kevy Nova continues to write and perform his own songs. In 2009, he released his first full length CD, “Greatest Hits Volume I” on which he plays acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, tenor banjo and sings lead and harmony vocals. He currently has enough material for seven more albums but continues to write new songs. His next album is currently being recorded.
